Charles ''Charlie'' Ewell Gowen, Jr., 73, of Henrico, NC, passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015. He was the son of the late Charles Ewell Gowen, Sr. and Bernice Yearout Duffy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lane Gowen, and his son, Charles ''Chuck'' Ewell Gowen, III.

Charlie served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the 25th infantry. He graduated from Hargrave Military Academy and attended Wingate College.

Charlie was a lifelong member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and was an active member of the Brotherhood. He was also an active member of the Roanoke Valley Shrine Club. Charlie never met a stranger and could always find a way to make people smile. He loved the lake, birds, and most of all, his family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Manning Gowen of Glen Allen, VA; and his grandchildren, Elizabeth Manning Forget, Lucie Ryan Forget, Edward Carter Gowen, and Matthew Charles Gowen.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 11:00 AM at All Saints’ Episcopal Church officiated by Rev. Fred Eichner. Inurnment will follow at the church columbarium. There will be a reception immediately following at the All Saints’ Parish House.
